STUDENT'S VISAS TO CANADA

You will obtain important information for your country by entering on the Visas section. These links will take you to the Government of Canada's Websites for studying in Canada.
 
2.  Do I need a visa for studying in Canada? Back to top
Foreign individuals who wish to study in Canada for 6 months or more must obtain Student Authorizations. A Student Authorization is a document that permits a foreign individual to study in Canada, generally at a specific Canadian educational institution, and in a specific program, and always for a limited time.

Student Authorization will normally be issued if an applicant has received a letter of acceptance from a qualified Canadian educational institution, and possesses sufficient funds to pay for tuition and living costs.

4.  What kind of documentation do I need to get the study permit?   
1) Application; 2) Copy of passport; 3) Copy of Letter of Acceptance; 4) Proof of economic solvency; 5) if the student is under 18, a certified letter in the source language along with its English or French translation; 6) Four photos; 7) Fee payment; 8) Medical examinations.
 
5.  Do I need a medical examination to enter Canada? Back to top
If you are going to study in Canada for more than 6 months you will need to undergo medical examinations, as part of your requirements to obtain your study permit.
 
6.  Can I apply for the study permit if I am outside my country? Back to top  
When submitting the application to your correspondent office, the applicant should be in his own country. No application will be accepted if the student is in Canada or in another country.

8. How long does it take to obtain the study permit? Back to top
10 days app. to receive the medical examination form and 15 days to issue the final decision on your medical examinations.
 

 

9.  Can I extend my term for studying in Canada before my permit expires? Back to top
If you already have a study permit, and you are in Canada and plan to extend your term of study, you should request a permit extension at least 40 days before its expiration. You may continue studying as long as you receive a response. If your extension is approved you may continue your studies, but if denied you should leave Canada as soon as possible.
 
10. Should my parents come with me if I am under 18 years old?  
If a minor child is coming to study in Canada, they will need a custodian in Canada. All minor applicants must supply a notarized declaration -- one signed by the parents or legal guardians in the country of origin, as well as one signed by the custodian in Canada -- stating that arrangements have been made for the custodian to act in place of a parent.

The Visa Officer must be satisfied that adequate arrangements are in place for the care and support of minor children who are unable to support themselves.

Minor children who are traveling alone must bring with them information (name, address, phone number) about the person or school that will be responsible for them.

Minors traveling without their parents require a letter of permission from the non-accompanying parent(s) and a letter from their custodian in Canada.  

11. Can I work in Canada while I am studying? Back to top
International Students may work in Canada in limited situations, including: a) when the employment is on-campus;  b) when the international student is the recipient of a scholarship; c) when the work has been certified as being an integral part of the program of study; d) when the work consists of academic research or a post-doctoral fellowship; and e) when the work takes place after graduation in a field related to the program of study.

2.  Are there students from other nationalities who register for English programs? Back to top
There are students from all nationalities who register for English programs in Canada. It is important to note that schools try to separate students from the same nationalities in different groups in order to prevent them to communicate in their native language.
 
3.  Are there any extra activities organized by the school? Back to top
Most of institutions organize out-of-school activities during the afternoons. The cost of these activities is not included and extra fees should be paid to take part in them.
 
4. How is the security at the schools? Back to top
Schools are quite safe for all students, since they are monitored all the time. Additionally, schools offer "guardianship" services for children attending summer camps. 

 

PROGRAM / SCHOLARSHIP

1.  Should I take a placement test before starting the program? Back to top
If you have studied English or French before, and your level is low intermediate or intermediate, you may take a placement test before starting your program and you will be placed in the appropriate level based on the assessment.
 
2. What ages are recommended for studying in Canada? Back to top
Any age is good for studying in Canada. From 8 years old, children can register for summer camps. However, for ESL programs or specialized program there are age restrictions that may vary from school to school. For more detailed information, go to schools websites.
 
3. Do I obtain a Certificate at the end of the course? Back to top
Yes. All the schools provide you with a certificate of completion at the end of the course, displaying name of the course, duration, and level completed. A certificate if given as long as the student meets with the minimum required attendance.
 
4. When does my program start? Back to top
Courses usually start every Monday or the first Monday of each Month, depending on the school. We strongly recommend you to arrive the weekend prior to the start date.

6. Is there any scholarship available for studying in Canada? Back to top
Some of the Canadian schools offer scholarships which are available for a certain period of time depending on the duration and schedule. Scholarship may be for 1-month free or a percentage discount on the tuition fee. Usually, the scholarships are available as from 12-weeks,  full time (25 hours per week) programs. These scholarships do only apply on the tuition fee and not on the homestay fee and additional services.

 

 

HOMESTAY

1.  What is a homestay? Back to top
Homestay is the place where you can live during your study program, usually with a Canadian family. By registering with a homestay family you will be offered one private room, three meals a day and you may use the facilities as well. Some schools offer several packages including two or three meals.
 
2.  Can I choose my homestay family? Back to top
Yes, you can choose your homestay family by filling in the homestay registration form. In this form you will be asked to provide the features you look for in a homestay family. Also, you can specify if you would like to live with a couple with/without kids, a smoking family or even the size of the family. After submitting your homestay registration form, the school will find the appropriate family for you. You will have the opportunity to interact and practice your English or French with your homestay family.
 
3.  Can I change my homestay family? Back to top
Yes, you may request the school administration to change your homestay family if you do not feel happy. But we strongly recommend you to check the school policies and find out if there is a relocation fee, or a specific requirement to change your homestay family.
 
4.  How far is the homestay family from the school? Back to top
Most of the homestay families live around 20-45 minutes far from the school facilities. They are centrally located and you will not have any problems to take a bus to your school.
 
5.  How can I get to the school? Back to top
All homestay families are centrally located, and you can take a bus easily. We recommend you to buy a monthly card for your daily transportation.
 
6.  When does the homestay program start? Back to top
Usually, homestay program starts the weekend prior to the start date of the course. Students are required to indicate in their registration form the start and end date of their homestay.

 

 

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

Registration Steps

When you register a personal advisor will be assigned to you until your registration process is completed and you physically reach your selected destination in Canada to start your studies.

Step 1. Pay the Initial Payment through one of the following methods:
Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
Bank Deposit (only in Mexican pesos)
Bank Wire Transfer in Canadian Dollar only (ask you local bank)
Western Union (only in American Dollars usd$ indicated above) Ask us for details

This amount will be deducted from the Final Price.
Step 2. A receipt will be posted  for your payment in your Activity Panel that can be downloaded and printed.

Conditional Step
(Study Visa Applicants)

If your country does not appear in this list and you have registered with us to study in Canada for a period of less than 6 months, go directly to Step 3.

However, all countries worldwide require to apply for study visas for any period more than 6 months in Canada. If your passport has been issued by any country listed (See the List), you must then obtain a study visa for any length of time in Canada. In such a case, please enter the following website by clicking here in order to examine and prepare all documents required for applying for a student visa. One of the required documents is the Letter of Acceptance issued to you by us. To provide you with a Letter of Acceptance, we will adjust the amount of your your Initial Payment in which, it is required from those students who need to apply for a study visa to Canada. Such Initial Payment will be applied and deducted from the total cost of your selected package price, also in your Activity Panel.
Refund: If your visa application gets rejected by the Canadian authorities, please send us a copy of such notification and we will refund your registration fee in full, minus the sending costs.

Step 3. You are now required to pay the outstanding balance at the latest, 15 days prior to your program's start date. If the registration takes place within 15 days before the start date, we recommend that you make the payment in full as soon as possible.
Step 4. We will post the official Letter of Acceptance on your Activity Panel for download, which is to be printed and presented to the Canadian authorities at the port of entry in Canada together with your Invoice.
Step 5. At this point you may start searching for flights and reserve one by entering your destination a day or two prior to your program's start date. You may wish to consider receiving quotes and reserving one through our WebPages located at: www.aircanada.com
Step 6. When you have all data regarding your flight, please forward the Airline, Flight Number, Local Date and Time of arrival so that we may arrange for Airport Reception (if this option selected).
Step 7. Finally, you can download all necessary information and details about your Homestay family (If Homestay option selected), and the name of the school's representative whom will meet you at the airport upon your arrival (if Airport Reception selected).
Step 8. A school's representative will be waiting for you at the gate outside the Custom/Immigration area holding a sign indicating the School's name and your name. He/She will take you to your Homestay family.
 
2.  What is a registration fee? Back to top
Registration fee is the amount you pay in order to ensure your place in the school. Through this fee you will be setting your commitment to the school, and this is the only way the school can guarantee your registration.
 
3.  What is a placement fee? Back to top
Placement fee is the amount paid to school to make the arrangements of finding a homestay family that matches with the characteristics you mentioned in your registration form.
 
4. What is a material fee? Back to top
The material fee is the amount paid to the school for all the material, such as books, tests, cassettes, computer lab that you will be using during your course.
 
5. When should I register for the course? Back to top
We recommend to start the process of registration at least one month and a half before the start date. However, If you will need to obtain a study permit, that may be a longer process, since you will need to submit the documentation required to the Canadian Embassy in your country.
 
6. What documents do I need to be registered? Back to top
You do not need a specific document to register for a program, you only need to fill in the application and pay the indicated registration fee. However for specialized programs such as Internship or Business English you should get the TOEFL score required for that program.
 
7. Is there any payment plan for the study program? Back to top
We are now offering payment plans for all study periods longer than 12 weeks. For example, a 4-month study program; the student will pay the first and last month prior to start date, whereas the second and the third month will be paid directly in Canada.
 
Also, we have the following payment options for homestay: 1) Pay the total cost of homestay along with the cost of the course; 2) Pay only the first month of homestay and the rest on a monthly basis; 3) Pay homestay fees directly to the family in Canada.
 
It is worth to mention that once the student decided to take advantage of one of the payment plans, she/she should continue with the duration and schedule initially agreed, otherwise this would represent a cancellation and no refund will be given for the weeks of study that are left.

8. Are there additional costs to the total price listed for the program? Back to top
There are not additional costs to the prices obtained through our web page. This price does not include flight nor tours to tourist sites.
 
9. What happen if I want to extend my program? Back to top
If you go to Canada for 2 or 3 months you may extend your program up to 6 months in total, which is the period allowed to stay in Canada without a study permit. But, if you go for 5 months and you plan to stay for a longer period, then you should apply for a study permit before you go to Canada. Additionally, if you already obtained a study permit for more than 6 months, and still plan to extend your stay, we recommend you to apply for the extension 4 weeks before the permit expires. You won't surely have any problem as long as your passport is still valid.
 
10. Can I re-register through your site? Back to top
Yes, you will only need to contact us before the end of your course to make the appropriate arrangements.
 
11. Do I need to buy a medical insurance? Back to top
Most of Canada Educational institutions require a medical insurance that covers all the medical expenses that may be required in the province. Therefore, make sure to fulfill this requirement by acquiring your medical insurance through your educational institution.
 
12. Who will arrange for medical insurance? Back to top
Request medical insurance in your registration, and the school will charge you the corresponding amount for the study period.
 
13. Can I pay in a different type of currency? Back to top
All prices are in Canadian dollars and you have the choice to pay the course in Canadian dollars or in another currency according to the current exchange rate.

REFUND POLICIES  Back to top

1.  What happen if my study permit is refused? Back to top
If your study permit is denied or refused by the Canadian Embassy Authorities, therefore you will receive 100% refund of your tuition fee, and the registration fee indicated in the registration form. 2.  Can I change the start date? Back to top
Yes, you can postpone your start date, but you may pay a postponement fee in some of the schools. Refer to the school refund policies for more detailed information.
 
3.  Do I Get my money back if I cancel my program? Back to top
Students who cancel their courses prior to start date, will receive a complete refund of the course fee, but not of the registration fee, provided that a notice of the cancellation is given 10 days prior to start date.
 
On the other hand, if the student decides to take advantage of one payment plans offered through our web site and decides to cancel his/her program after starting the course, no refund will be given for the weeks of study that are left. It is worth to mention that once the student decided to take advantage of one of the payment plans, she/she should continue with the duration and schedule initially agreed, otherwise this would represent a cancellation and no refund will be given for the weeks of study that are left.
 
4.  Can I claim for a refund after the first day of classes? Back to top
No, you will not receive any refund once the program is started. However, some schools grant certain percentage from the tuition cost.  Refer to the school refund policies for more detailed information.
